Ponder This for A Moment...
Let's just say, for sake of argument, that there has been systematic, intentional fraud of a widespread basis in Florida and Ohio. Maybe electronic voting machine computer hacking or something of the sort. And that the exit polls showing Kerry would have won those states were, in fact, accurate. Let's also assume that indisputable evidence comes out to this effect on January 21, 2005.
What on earth could be done about it?
O.K., let's say that you can get Bush and Cheney to resign or be impeached. Then, under the line of succession you've Hastert, Condi, etc. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate is a Republican. The only Democrat that I can see in the line of succession in Transportation Secretary Norm Mineta. So, barring an incredibly unlikely situation where everyone in the line of succession resigns, leaving Norm as President, appointing Kerry his VP and then Norm himself resigns, there would be NO REMEDY AT ALL for the greatest crime of all time.
Sure, there might be a lawsuit or two, but what could the courts do? What could the Supreme Court do? There's no provision in the Constitution for something like this.
Ponder also the fact that while we have no remedy for something like this Ukraine apparently does. Ukraine!
It would almost make a crime like this worth it, if you were so power-mad, as DeLay, Rove and Co. have shown. It would be the perfect crime.
