WaxWorks has been busy for the holidays, having both sides of the family over for Christmas. But now we're back with a front page story in the Times today essentially saying what we at WaxWorks have been saying for months, err, weeks, that Alberto Gonzales still seems to be the front runner for a Supreme Court vacancy, but conservatives are nervous about another Souter, so they want Bush to wait on Gonzales and appoint Miguel Estrada to the Court as the first Hispanic with the next opening after Estrada becomes ready for Prime Time with some seasoning on the DC Circuit. It also says the Judge Wilkinson of the Fourth Circuit in lovely Charlottesville, VA is another leading contender, over fellow Fourth Circuiter Judge Luttig. (Which is good news as far as I'm concerned.) Anyway, there will certainly be more news on this in the months ahead.
WaxWorks is eagerly awaiting the upcoming decision in Eldred v. Ashcroft, the copyright case, because of the interesting constitutional questions it raises and maybe also because the WaxWorks family is the beneficiary of several copyrights that could be drastically affected by this case.
I've also promised more on the Gore announcement, which I will do soon. (That was quickly eclipsed by Lott.)
