Latest news on the Bush economy: Unemployment at a nine year high.

I watched Al Franken last night (here's the link) speaking at a booksellers convention on C-Span as part of a panel consisting of him, Bill O'Reilly and Molly Ivins. The Franken bit (which begins about 30 minutes or so into the video) is worth seeing, both because he tells a great story, with O'Reilly sitting there, which is essentially that Bill O'Reilly is a liar. O'Reilly confronts him when he's done and it's a pretty exciting interaction.

But the point I was going to make was that Franken was comparing the Clinton job growth (23 million jobs in eight years) with the growth during the two Bush presidencies, and Franken noted how each had negative job growth during their presidencies. Franken then said, "That means if either Bush had been president since the beginning of our country, none of us would be working today."
